Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small neighborhood that is located in the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. The West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a vast area that extends from Lachine to the west. It is often cited as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was not long. Brugel became an aspiring young lady within Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. The first goal she had was to be an actor, However, following a dramatic expansion, she and her partner were no longer able to dance with her. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I am 6 feet and 1 inch." When I reached the height of the size of my male friends then I stopped. Many former dancers turn into acting. In Brugel's case it was a nudge from an instructor in drama at high school who led her in the right direction. One of her teachers suggested she audition for an annual school production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the lead role for Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in 2000. Since then, Brugel's been in over 60 productions both smaller and large. Most notable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in the season 1 which was viewed only at times.
